A Day to Think About Recycling

November 15
Did you know that November 15 is America Recycles Day?
According to the America Recycles Day website, “Since 1997, communities across the country have come together on November 15 to celebrate America Recycles Day. More than a celebration, America Recycles Day is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to the promotion of recycling in the United States. One day to educate and motivate. One day to get our neighbors, friends and community leaders excited about what can be accomplished when we all work together. One day to make recycling bigger and better 365 days a year. Get involved!”
The America Recycles Day website is a great place to go to learn more.
Keep America Beautiful
America Recycles Day is a program of the Keep America Beautiful organization, a group which is focused on combining education with hands-on stewardship to make America’s communities cleaner, greener, safer and more livable.
You may remember this organization best for producing the iconic “Crying Indian” PSA campaign and commercial from the 1970’s.

Anytime is a great time to reinforce recycling efforts in your building, but since November 15 is “America Recycles Day”, what better day to organize an event in your building to promote recycling awareness to your building occupants and staff?
If you are interested, the America Recycles Day webpage has some great resources and customizable templates to help with your recycling event organization efforts. And even if it is not feasible to coordinate something for this year – Earth Day will be here before we know it in the spring!
Starting A Recycling Program
You may have already read our blog on starting a Recycling Program, but in the spirit of America Recycles Day, we would like to “recycle” the information and provide the link again in case you missed it the first time around.
