Well it all depends on the type of surface to be swept. Push broom types are classified by the type of surface to be swept.

Light-Duty Push Brooms: Highly polished or waxed floors, smooth wood, vinyl tile and terrazzo. Wet surfaces should be avoided when using flagged or fine natural fibers. Not recommended for use with sweeping compounds or on oily surfaces.

Medium-Duty Push Brooms: Use for sweeping light to medium debris from smooth floors and concrete. Wet surfaces should be avoided when using flagged or fine natural fibers.

Heavy-Duty Push Brooms: Rough floors, floors with matted dirt, asphalt and course debris from surfaces such as parking lots, sidewalks and loading docks.

Also, you need to choose the size of your broom by what you intend on sweeping.

Brooms 18 inches or smaller: Best for narrow areas, such as steps, landings and around machines.
Brooms 18-24 inch: Average use.
Brooms larger than 24 inches: For large, clear areas.
