Choosing the Correct Floor Pad

From polishing to stripping, janitors spend a lot of time using floor-care machines. That’s why it’s so important to choose the right pad or brush for the task at hand. But with more options than ever, many building service contractors find it easiest to simply stick with what they know.

“Most manufacturers offer upwards of 25 different pads,” says Rory Beaudette, Vice President Sales and COO for ACS Industries Inc., Lincoln, Rhode Island. “That’s complex for most operators, so they may need to spend some time educating themselves.”

Although there will always be a need for the basic pads, learning about myriad new colors and shapes is worthwhile. Many are designed to improve productivity and reduce floor damage, both of which can boost the bottom line.

SANTA ANA, CA – WAXIE’s Santa Ana branch is honored to announce that it has been named one of the “Best Places to Work” by the Orange County Business Journal.

Hundreds of companies within the Orange County area were nominated. The award and the results were determined by evaluating several factors, which included an anonymous employee survey. All WAXIE Santa Ana employees were invited to participate in the voluntary survey that included questions about company culture, values, leadership and work environment. 40% participation was required for consideration and WAXIE Santa Ana’s employees far exceeded that participation level at 78%.

The importance of training staff to understand the variations between cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing

As a facility cleaning manager, are you confident that your staff can walk into a janitorial closet to grab chemicals off the crowded shelves and actually know the differences between cleaners, sanitizers and disinfectants? If you hesitate in answering, you’re not alone.

Although these products are commonly used in cleaning departments, there are many misunderstandings about the chemical categories. “I’m not sure all custodial staffs truly understand the difference,” says Nancy Bock, senior vice president of meetings and education for the American Cleaning Institute (ACI). “The terms clean, sanitize and disinfect are often inaccurately used, which is why training is essential.”

WAXIE Ontario Has a Ball at Customer Appreciation Day

On Thursday, May 12, 2016, WAXIE Ontario hosted a Customer Appreciation Day at the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Sports Arena.

The Coliseum is the current home to the University of Southern California Trojans football team. It will also be the upcoming temporary home to the Los Angeles Rams for the 2016, 2017 & 2018 NFL seasons. Previously, the Coliseum has hosted the 1932 Summer Olympics Games and the 1984 Summer Olympics Games.

With a high temperature of 73 degrees, it was a beautiful day! The turnout was amazing with approximately 600 customers in attendance during the event hours of 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
