Common Areas

Common areas are excellent spaces in which to implement a recycling program. Copy rooms, central dorms, gymnasiums and theaters are just a few examples of areas where receptacles can be well utilized.

These spaces are not transitional like lobbies or other public areas, but shared spaces that users spend more time in. They can present a good opportunity for single stream receptacles as most items will be generated or consumed within that space. A large recycling bin next to a copy or fax machine, a glass/plastic bottle bin in a theater or gymnasium, or a composting receptacle in a shared dorm kitchen are just a few examples of places that could benefit from a recycling or compost container.
