The Problem: While many carpets are treated to be stain resistant, no carpet is completely stain proof and not all spots are the same, nor are they treated the same. With spot removal, the first step is to absorb as much of the liquid as possible, as soon as possible. The next step is to identify the spot and find the right product and process to remove it. There are four basic categories of spots: water-soluble (the most common, including mud, ice cream, sugar, etc.); oil-based (including paint, oil, grease, ink, lipstick, etc.); non-soluble (including sand and grit which can be removed by vacuuming); and special treatment (spot requires a specific chemical change for removal, including rust, dye stains, red wine, etc.)

WAXIE Pro Red-Out Spot & Stain Remover

Works on fresh and dried stains without the use of bleach or phosphates. WAXIE Pro Red-Out Spot & Stain Remover is effective on color residues, dyes of various kinds, wine spots, fruit punches, ink residues, furniture leg spots due to varnish or shellac stains, colored medicines, old coffee spots, and urine stains.

HELPFUL HINT:

Cover area with a clean, dry towel and place a weight on top of the towel. The liquid will wick into the towel as it dries, instead of stopping at the top of your carpet fibers. Once dried, vacuum and inspect treated area. Odor should be gone. If not, repeat procedure.

SPOTS: A concentrated substance on the fiber/yarn surface that can be removed!
STAINS: A concentrated substance that has permanently dyed or damaged the carpet fiber/yarn and cannot be removed!

SPOT & STAIN REMOVAL

Identify your spot and reference the spotting chart
Always pre-test the spotters on an inconspicuous carpet section before using
Apply the spotter to the effected area and blot and tamp with a white clean towel
Always work from the edge to the center of the stain
Repeat if necessary until the stain is gone
Rinse with clean water and blot dry

Spot Removal Procedure

Remove spots as soon as possible to avoid setting the spot and making it a stain
Test carpet for colorfastness by spraying spot remover in an inconspicuous area
Scoop up as much of the spill as you can if possible
Absorb as much liquid as possible
Apply the spotter to the affected area and use a clean, damp white cotton cloth with a blotting action, working from the outside in
Repeat cleaning procedure, if necessary
Flush with clean water and blot with a clean white cotton cloth or extract
NOTE: If you do not know what type of material caused a spot, it is recommended that you use a solvent-based spot remover first.
