Kersey and Local Partners Announce the Rollout of Hand Sanitizer Stations at All City Libraries and Rec Centers

San Diego – Councilman Mark Kersey has partnered with WAXIE Sanitary Supply and GOJO, the makers of Purell, to equip all San Diego City libraries and recreation centers with a hand sanitizer station. 

Councilman Kersey was joined by Mayor Kevin Faulconer; Dr. Wilma Wooten from the County of San Diego; Rick Hazard and Lee Jackson of WAXIE; Chuck Ross of the California Restaurant Association, San Diego Chapter; Misty Jones, Director of Public Libraries; and Herman Parker, Director of Park and Recreation, to announce the placement of hand sanitizer stations at 57 rec centers and 36 public libraries and encourage businesses, especially restaurants, to make hand sanitizer available to their patrons. 

"I want to thank Councilmember Kersey for spearheading a proactive approach to install additional hand sanitation stations in rec centers, libraries and restaurants, and I encourage all San Diegans to keep their hands clean and stay healthy," said Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer.

Rick Hazard of WAXIE led the group in a demonstration that showed how to effectively use hand sanitizer.

“It is our pleasure to join the Mayor, Councilman Kersey and our community leaders to support clean hands,” said Rick Hazard, Vice President of Marketing for WAXIE Sanitary Supply. “Keeping hands cleaned and sanitized is one of the most important steps a person can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others.”

Chuck Ross of the California Restaurant Association, San Diego Chapter also expressed their support. They announced a donation of 200 hand sanitizer dispensers to local restaurants with the goal to cover 1,000 locations. CRA will also share information about healthy hand hygiene practices with their restaurants and members in the City of San Diego.

Councilmember Mark Kersey represents the City of San Diego’s Fifth District which includes Del Sur and the rest of Black Mountain Ranch, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Miramar Ranch North, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Encantada, Rancho Peñasquitos, Sabre Springs, San Pasqual, Scripps Miramar Ranch and Torrey Highlands.
